Cypriot company EUROCY Innovations (www.eurocyinnovations.com) participates in a consortium for the implementation of the DEMOER project (www.dementia-care.eu ) with partners from Belgium, Bulgaria, Spain and Turkey and the financial support of the European Commission in the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.
The project will create an innovative adult education training curriculum targeting the family members of people with dementia.
DEMOER aims to provide non-formal training to adults - family members of people with dementia – in order to allow them to understand practical issues of the situation people with dementia are facing and empower them to provide more effective support to them. At the same time, the aim is to raise awareness of European citizens and decision-makers, in the project partner countries and beyond, regarding the need to support and train the families with people with dementia. It is expected that raising awareness through case-based learning will have a very positive impact, reducing the social and economic burden on the families of people with dementia. Training material, as well as other related support services will be provided online and through mobile devices.
DEMOER will produce the following outputs:
Educational Guide – “How to support family members with dementia”: This guide will provide adult trainees with tips and strategies on how to deal with cases of family members with memory decline, which can lead to various difficult situations with negative consequences. The content of the guide will be such that no medical or psychology background will be a prerequisite for one to follow it.
Open Source Mobile Application for immediate support/help and solutions offering to specific cases (24/7): Users will be able to use existing material, as well as contribute with case studies. An additional innovation is that the adults and their peers will be able to share content, opinions, feedback and material with other users.
Toolkit-guide for adult educators with methodological support for delivering the DEMOER project curriculum: Guidance material for adult workers and educators in NGOs and voluntary organizations involved in specific training seminars organization and implementation on the delivery of the DEMOER non-formal education curriculum (preparation of course educators).
